On Gavin Newsom
I knew of Gavin as a boy in the 70’s when his Mom helped with Adopt A Special Kid nonprofit which I was a Director and Board Chair. She had little money. I met her former husband Bill then. We went to Vegas to a heavyweight fight. He didn’t have much money but he had friends with money. Gavin grew up without wealth for sure.
I watched Gavin in the wine business. He was totally gracious, hard working. He delivered to my friend Norman Wechsler, former Department Store CEO and Norman really liked him. Gavin rolled up his sleeves.
I hosted a fundraiser at my Telegraph Hill house for him when he first ran. He was gifted in his speaking to people. Smart.
I’ve talked to him over the years.
I like him. I always liked him. He had guts to act his convictions on gay marriages. He built with his sister (yes with outside capital), a very successful business. He’s a nice, compassionate but pragmatic (young to me) man. Mistakes, who hasn’t made them? But he apologized, did what he could. He still is humble, decent, smart and now very experienced.
He loves governing. He could have made a lot more money in the private sector.
I’m a Right of Center Independent Blue Dog Dem or McCain/Romney Republican. I still support Gavin for Governor of California.

Hillary says women voting Democrat are intelligent and think for themselves. Republican voting women are Stepford wives. Her continuing mistake, one of many. She lacks judgment. I’m glad to see newly emerging moderate pragmatic Democrats as is the new Congressman in Pennsylvania.
Both Hillary and Nancy should call it a day. Feinstein however should stay. Her voice of reason is important. She has gravitas on issues, even when I disagree. I met her opponent, took him for drinks. I did not like his character. He takes advantage.

RE: Nikki Haley accuses UN of “bullying” Israel at AIPAC
I really like Nikki. I hope VP next time or after, I like how she hangs in to represent the U.S. and its allies and not because she’s a fan of Trump’s personality. At least she was not before she got her job.

To Friends of Israel and Thinking Friends
To Friends of Israel and Thinking Friends,
Alan Derhowitz on the 250,000 Jewish citizens pushed out from Morocco etc. in the late 40’s sent from my friend Roger Aronoff in Washington, D.C.
I mirror Alan Derhowitz’s move from leftist idealist to right of center pragmatist, certainly as pertains to Israel, but also as it pertains to our United States.
The UN has been influenced by Arabs resulting in Palestinians still in camps not in the best of situations in Jordan (who once controlled the entire area); many of these people came to work for Jews in Israel from Egypt etc. in the 40’s, 50’s 60’s, 70’s. Remember there were 500,000 Arabs in Israel and West Bank 100 years ago, and now 5 million, hardly a diminution. On the other hand, Jews pushed out of Morocco, Egypt, Iraq etc. lived for 1,000 years in Middle Eastern Arab countries long before they were Muslim controlled. There are hardly any left.
Who are the more deserving refugees? Of course, the Jewish refugees have long been assimilated elsewhere. They have little interest on going back.
